Myths about the men

Regret and remorse on the part of the man means he has changed

While violent men can appear to enjoy the effects of the abuse, they often feel remorseful about resorting to violence in order to achieve their ends. However, regret and remorse is not indicative of change neither does it mean that he is prepared to relinquish the power he has within the relationship.

Even though the abuser may try to 'buy-back' his partner after a violent incident by being loving, sensitive, communicative and playful at times, it does not mean that he has changed.
