Woman's Trust
History of the Service
Woman's Trust (WT) is a woman only service providing counselling and support services to women who have been affected by domestic violence and training for front line workers. WT was formed in 1995 by a group of domestic violence survivors, counsellors and women to address the absence of specialist counselling services available to this client group.
Organisational Aims & Objectives
WT's aim is to provide client led person centred mental health services which empower women affected by domestic violence to advocate for themselves, to make positive choices in their lives and live free from violence and abuse. There is a substantial gap in domestic violence service provision. There are agencies which help women with legal advice, housing etc but few agencies that specifically address the mental health issues for women affected by domestic violence.
